TIMESHARE 101:

WHY IS A CREDIT CARD REQUIRED?

WHY TIMESHARE TOURS REQUIRE A CREDIT CARD AT CHECK IN

Make no doubt about it, your personal information is super important and you need to keep it safe. You may then be asking yourself why timeshare tours require a credit card at check in? And the real answer is simple, but often not what a timeshare agent is told to really tell you.

Why ask to see a Credit Card?

Timeshare presentations are a big business, and the timeshare company who is offering the free gifts wants to ensure that people who are sitting in on the timeshare tour are able to travel in the future.

A major credit card (not a bank debit or check card) is a simple way to guess that a person is able to spend money on travelling, and can make a decision to spend money on travel whenever they want to.

Does anyone TOUCH or SCAN my Credit Card?

No, a reputable company will never require you to scan a credit card when you arrive to check in for your timeshare tour. They will also not make a copy of the card.

You are in control of your credit card, and the timeshare company simply matches your name with what is on your photo ID and ensures the credit card has not expired.

WHAT TYPE OF CARD IS ACCEPTABLE?

You can use any card that is a credit card. This means that bank or check cards that are simply linked to a bank account are not able to be used to take a timeshare tour in Las Vegas.

The Credit Card Rule of Thumb

It can be confusing, but ask yourself a simple question –  can you buy something with your card now and pay for it later? Does the card have the word DEBIT or CHECK CARD on it? If you can’t pay for it later, or it has the word DEBIT or CHECK on it, it is not able to be used for our timeshare tours.
